I lived in Sonoma county from 2001 to 2007. It's one of the most beautiful areas I've ever seen, with perfect California weather suffusing the famous vineyards, rolling hills, and serpentine Pacific Coast Highway. Throw in fantastic local food and restaurants and San Francisco only 45 minutes away, and you have a romantic's delight.
